AFLNO Chapter 21 Posted  
Chapter 21 was originally going to be entitled, "Truth and Consequences." As some of you have heard, the draft of 21 started running really long, so as sometimes happens, I have split the chapter.

Chapter 21 is now called, "Truth . . ." and Chapter 22 will be ". . . and Consequences." LOL. What can I say? The titles fit.

I hope to have Chapter 22 out in a week or so. It's mostly written -- I just don't have the ending fleshed out yet.

AFLNO Updated with Chapter 20  
After much debate between Nos, No's, and Noes, I've decided that the plural of the word no will be noes in this story -- that seems to be the most British way to go about things, though granted, using no in the plural isn't common no matter how you slice it.

So, with that bit of minutiae out of the way, I am pleased to announce that "Three Noes and a Yes," Chapter 20 of A Family Like None Other, is now available at skyehawke.

Thanks to all of you who keep the conversation lively as I continue writing. It's good to know that people continue to be interested in the story -- that helps me keep on writing it.

I'd just like to add that this chapter contains mention of a cucumber. So... proceed at your own risk.

AFLNO Updated with Chapter 19

News update on AFLNO progress  
Just thought I'd drop off a quick note -- I finished Ch 19 today after many, many weeks of it languishing in a mostly-done state. I've asked my kind betas to have a look-see.

Also, I know the title of Chapter 20.

So the upcoming titles are:

Ch 19: Slytherin
Ch 20: Three No's and a Yes

I do hope you enjoy. I know that may be difficult at the moment -- it's hard seeing Harry go through this, and seeing the pain he inflicts on other beloved characters as he struggles with the information he's been given. On an emotional level, all that is very realistic imho, however, which is why it's written the way it is. I have to let the story take me where it wants to take me. That's what I've done all along in this saga.

Jewelry Posted for Sale  
I mentioned a while ago on the Yahoo group that I make jewelry as a hobby, and that at some point I might sell some of it online. I guess that point has come, LOL.

I'm selling through a site called Bonanzle and I just today posted 9 items, 3 of which have already sold, whee!

Thanks to everybody who sent in questions. I'll keep getting your answers from the characters and posting them in here, but the owls are looking peaked by now, so the games are now closed.

Okay, it's been a long time since the AFLNO characters have been willing to let me owl them your questions and type their answers in here for you after I get them. But they're ready for another go-round, so let the games begin!!!

Ground Rules:

---All comments to this entry are screened. I will pass along all questions except ones that I really think will piss off people with wands. So, you know, be polite. I'm only a Muggle and there is this kill-the-messenger instinct in human AND wizard nature.
---Your question will get unscreened if I get an answer back to it.
---The characters will answer only those questions they feel like answering. Which means, you know, make 'em interesting!!!
---Don't ask the characters to tell you the future. They don't know it. And they get really annoyed with people thinking that they do. And since Harry can't even REMEMBER his seer dreams, he's not going to tell you any future events, either. Ask about stuff that has happened so far or about how they feel, etc.
---Clearly label who your questions are for. But, lol, don't feel you must restrict yourselves to the living. I have some spectral owls that will try to reach the land of the dead for you.
---Okay, on with the games, have fun!!!


(But be patient waiting for answers because the characters, the owls, and I all have busy lives....)

Also, disclaimer: this post isn't AFLNO canon. Only the story is canon. Liberties may be taken... last time we did this, Snape claimed to like listening to "Witches Gone Wild" broadcasts on the wizarding wireless. I still think he was having us on. If that were true, wouldn't his natural sense of decorum keep him from blabbing?

Combo desktop + AFLNO news flash  
Another big huge supermegafoxyawesomehot thanks to Madeline Pittman, who is *still amazing* ----


Remember the new desktop backgrounds from a couple of days ago, "Harry Wished" and "The Gift of Family" ??

Well, it really was asking too much of me to choose one or the other to decorate my laptop screen. I loved them both so much!!! So I asked Madeline if she could put them together into one jpg for me, which she did -- and she even spiffed up the fire to be a little more fiery!!! (Though I don't think you can see that in the mini-previews below. It's clearer in the full sized ones I linked to).

Also, AFLNO news flash -- Ch 14 will be coming soon. It's fully written out, polished and in the final-final beta round. Eh... 7500ish words, which is shortish for me, but plenty long for a chapter, esp since I found a good breaking point in what was, admittedly, a complex and difficult scene.

Chapter titles planned are: Ch 14 "Forget-Me-Not" and Ch 15 "Commotion in Potions" (which was a title used in AYLNO also, yes, I know. :D))

Some art that reflects recent events in AFLNO.....  
Two new desktop backgrounds, each in a couple of sizes. I'm going to put the one that says "Family" prominently up as my new desktop background!!!

These are scrumptious and incredible, and built out of HBP images so the boys look a proper age for 7th years, yay....

Some recent fanart.....  
I've been given a number of things in the past couple of months. Wonderful lovely pieces of artwork. *And* the Art Gallery is undergoing a redesign courtesy of a wonderful woman who offered to update it to a more contemporary style. I'll let you know when the big reveal is ready.

Progress Report AFLNO  
Chapter 12, "Dear Draco" is fully drafted and has been sent off to my wonderful beta team. Word count (gulp) 15,500 and change. Well, I was determined, determined, I tell you, to get to a certain very specific moment. *cough*cliffhanger*cough*

But, you know, it's not really a cliffhanger.

It's not "Get out of my sight" or Harry-gets-kidnapped. It's just a little something that will probably make you want to read on for a bit.

In other news, Chapter 13 is still slated to be called "Gryffindor vs. Slytherin." Hmm. I think I smell Quidditch. But that might just be me. Chapter 13 is also going to be written up to a specific point I have already got well in mind. So -- no telling how short/long it might be. I just know it'll end when I get to the end I envision for it.

Chapter 12 will be up as soon as I can get it back and incorporate needed edits.
